To All Concerned:
The City of McCausland is pleased to
announce that the United States Post Office has agreed to open negotiations to
keep the Post Office open in the City of McCausland.
The Mayor had a telephone conversation
with Mr. Doug Morrow, District Manager of the Hawkeye District, for the USPS. Several
options were discussed and a tentative agreement was reached.
The
tentative agreement that was discussed is as follows:

The
Post Office will remain in the current temporary location while we negotiate
the rejuvenation of the new location.
¨
The
new location is expected to be finished in less than six months and the work
will be completed by the city.
¨
The
Post Office will furnish box section, counter lines, and staff.
¨
We
will continue to negotiate the financial aspects as we move forward.
This is a major step forward for this
community in keeping their Post Office!
We are very pleased with the positive attitude the Post Office is
showing us at this time! The City is
committed to continuing this positive momentum and is looking forward to
completing this project with the United States Postal Service!
We would
like to thank everyone who has helped in this venture! Everyone has pulled together to gain a
positive outcome! There will be future correspondence
as we move forward detailing each phase of this project.
