Why we need your help

- McCausland is a small town (around 300 people and 26 businesses) in the Midwest filled with hard working people. Many of the people in this community are Veterans who have served their country both here and abroad. Others are farmers, and some have businesses who support the small town and surrounding areas. A large percentage of the citizens work on a nearby Army base to support our country war fighters overseas. We are simple hard working people that have bonded together in a fight against the US Postal Service from "suspending" our Post Office. -
- The people of the community rely heavily on the local Post Office in many ways. In addition to the traditional purchasing of postal supplies and services, it has become a meeting place for many of the elder. Some what of a check in for the community, if some of the older folks are not seen on a regular basis. We then check on them to ensure all is well. Just people helping people, a typical small town in the Midwest. -
- Why we need your help? By applying enough pressure on the Post Office Officials we are hoping to save our local Post Office and have it removed from the suspension list. We still have not received an answer for the question, why was our Post Office placed on the list for suspension? McCausland residents understand the current contract on the temporary facility is almost complete, however a new contract could have been written to cover the gap in time till the permanent building is ready. We would like to know why this was not done. Instead the Post Office Officials would like our residents to donate land to place postal CBU’s on. One of the largest complaints they have brought to the table is handicapped access. Many of us have trouble understanding how a CBU with a gravel drive will be more handicapped accessible than a building on Main Street with no step to enter the office. The building supplied to postal officials with overwhelming approval of town residents is by far the most handicapped accessible building in the entire town. That is to include our handicapped residents own homes. As a community, we are confused and would like answers. Help us get the answers we seek by applying pressure where it will do some good. -
